This podcast is an audio recording of a presentation by Amy Loeffelholz, Michaela Freeland, and Wesley Fryer at the October 8, 2015, Oklahoma Technology Association (OTA) Encyclo-Media Conference in Oklahoma City. The title of the presentation was, “Engaging STEM Lesson Ideas.” The session description was: Engineering design challenges can provide simple yet challenging ways to engage students in problem solving, collaboration, and other STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skill development activities. Learn about different design challenges which require minimal or inexpensive supplies readily obtained at a local grocery store. Explore strategies and tips for successfully facilitating STEM lesson activities, in which students are self-directed in seeking different approaches and solutions to design challenges. (end of description) Although it was not included in the original session description, Michaela shared a lot about her learning journey with 3D printing in the library, including local Oklahoma City 3D printer options, makerspaces, and 3D apps and software.
